Job summary

NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) in San Diego is seeking a part-time facilities maintenance worker to perform skilled trades across two or more trades. You will handle repairs in plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and painting, progressing to more independent work with experience.

The role requires standing, bending, lifting, and exposure to outdoor conditions, with safety training expected. The position emphasizes safety, adherence to regulations, and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• General maintenance experience across buildings, grounds, fixtures, or equipment.
• Substitution of education for experience allows one year of high school for 3 months of general experience.
• Specialized maintenance experience in trades such as electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry or painting with safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Performs work in at least two trades in maintenance of buildings and fixtures or emphasizes a higher-level licensed trade.
• Completes duties for plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting and related tasks per standard methods and safety guidelines.
• Maintains work order logs and reports status to supervisor; follows up on maintenance requests and coordinates with contractors.
