Software Placement Group in Asheville, NC is seeking a Phlebotomist for a 3‑month, on‑site contract. The role involves blood draws and specimen handling across multiple local sites, with travel to Hendersonville and Clyde as needed.

Ideal candidates have a state phlebotomy certification, 2+ years or 6+ months venipuncture experience, adult/geriatric experience, MS Office proficiency, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment (as required in some states).
• Minimum of 6 months' work experience performing venipunctures in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.
• Minimum 2 years of experience.
• Adult and geriatric experience required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• Clean driving record and reliable transportation.
• Must be available for an 8-hour shift between 6AM and 6PM, Monday through Friday.

Responsibilities

• Perform blood draws, label specimens, and operate centrifuge equipment
• Record maintenance data and perform decontamination procedures
• Update patient information accurately
• Collect and store specimens according to established procedures
• Explain venipuncture and other specimen collection processes clearly to patients
• Demonstrate technique using straight needles and/or butterfly needles
• Understand and follow physicians' orders fully
• Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes; label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required
• Check all test requisitions or computer labels against scripts to ensure 100% accuracy
• Package specimens properly for transport
• Store specimens at required temperatures and follow protocol-specific procedures to maintain specimen integrity during transport
• Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• Attend annual department trainings
• Answer telephone calls and relay laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
• Float to other locations in Asheville and travel to Hendersonville and Clyde as needed
