Job summary

The County of Santa Clara is seeking an experienced Food Service Supervisor to maintain high standards of food production, sanitation and service across its hospital system. You will direct purchasing, preparation, and serving for patients, staff and visitors, while managing budgets and staff across multiple sites.

You will oversee staffing, training, scheduling, and compliance with nutrition and public health regulations, and collaborate with clinical teams to ensure quality care and customer

Qualifications

• Requires bachelor's degree in foods and nutrition or related field.
• At least three years experience in hospital or major food service program.
• At least one year supervisory experience; master's may substitute for one year.

Responsibilities

• Establishes and maintains standards of food production, service, sanitation, safety, and security.
• Compiles operational data to improve efficiency and quality of food service.
• Develops specifications for procurement of food, equipment and supplies.
• Determines number served and computes quantities to purchase per dietetic standards.
• Inspects kitchen areas, equipment, and staff to ensure sanitation and health compliance.
• Prepares work schedules and assigns tasks to staff.
• Assists in selecting and training subordinate personnel.
• Reviews journals and confers with industry to adopt new food service practices.
• Prepares reports on meals and costs.
• Maintains inventories and records of equipment and supplies.
• Maintains communications and public relations.
• Develops short and long-range departmental plans.
• Relieves Director in absence.
• Assists in preparing the departmental budget.
