Job summary

The Arc of Central Alabama is seeking a skilled Carpenter to support maintenance across group homes, clinics, and offices. You will perform framing, finish carpentry, repairs, and installations while ensuring safety, accessibility, and CARF/compliance standards.

The role requires reading blueprints, a valid license, and willingness to travel between multiple sites. Ideal candidates have 3–5 years of carpentry or related experience, familiarity with healthcare or residential facilities, and a

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
3–5 years carpentry or general construction experience preferred.
Healthcare, residential/group homes, or multi-site facilities experience preferred.
Knowledge of building codes, ADA requirements, and safety regulations.
Ability to read blueprints and technical drawings.
Valid driver's license required.
Must pass a statewide/criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen.

Responsibilities

Perform rough and finish carpentry including framing, drywall, trim, cabinetry, and door/window installation.
Repair walls, ceilings, flooring, and structural components as needed.
Install and maintain fixtures such as handrails, shelving, cabinets, and safety equipment.
Modify to ensure ADA accessibility and safety compliance.
Read blueprints and work orders; collaborate with maintenance staff.
Travel between sites to respond to urgent repair needs and emergencies.
Maintain records of work orders and completed tasks.
