Job summary

KinderCare Learning Companies in Grand Rapids, MI seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure the safety, functionality, and inviting aesthetic of our centers. This role collaborates with staff to maintain compliant, welcoming environments across multiple sites.

You will perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing and general systems, support renovations, and manage CMMS work orders to keep centers operating smoothly.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, playgrounds, roofing in a multi-unit environment.
• Ability to diagnose and repair equipment; preventive maintenance.
• Qualified to operate a company vehicle per policy.
• Strong time management, communication, and organization.
• Read and apply maintenance manuals, bulletins, drawings and specs.
• Self-motivated; able to work independently and with others.
• Proficient with work-related electronic devices.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and perform preventive maintenance on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry.
• Conduct safety inspections of playgrounds and property.
• Assist with renovations and new construction inspections; identify capital needs.
• Engage with center staff to promote best maintenance practices.
• Coordinate with vendors for complex repairs and track performance.
• Update work orders and status using CMMS.
