Job summary

Youth Futures Utah is seeking a Facilities Technician to maintain its residential shelters across Ogden, St. George, and Cedar City. This hands-on role covers repairs, landscaping, and preventive maintenance to keep spaces safe and welcoming for youth and staff.

Qualifications

• Completion of a credentialed maintenance program or 2–4 years of experience in residential maintenance/grounds keeping.
• Working knowledge of hand tools, small power tools, landscaping equipment, and minor residential repairs.
• Must be a self-starter who identifies work, creates a prioritized task list, and follows through without constant direction.
• Strong organization, attention to detail, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Knowledge of environmental safety, including safe storage, handling, and disposal of chemicals and maintenance materials.

Responsibilities

• Inspect bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, common areas, entrances, and exterior features; identify and address maintenance needs.
• Perform routine repairs, including minor plumbing, lighting, doors, hardware, fixtures, furniture, painting, and HVAC filter replacement.
• Complete preventive maintenance and identify conditions affecting safety or operations.
• Respond to maintenance requests, document work, and communicate issues requiring licensed contractors or management approval.
• Maintain tools, supplies, and equipment in safe, orderly condition.
• Perform lawn and landscape care: mowing, trimming, edging, watering, pruning, weeding, beds.
• Keep sidewalks, parking areas, entrances, and outdoor spaces tidy; address hazards.
• Identify cost-conscious opportunities to improve curb appeal and perform beautification projects.
• Travel regularly between Youth Futures Utah locations to perform inspections and maintenance; coordinate site visits with local leadership.
• Communicate progress and unresolved issues to supervisors and obtain approval before major expenditures or specialized work.
• Develop and manage a prioritized task list; address urgent safety concerns first; track completed work and materials needed.
