Job summary

A&R Group Hospitality is seeking an Area Maintenance Technician based in Gulf Shores, AL to support multiple hotel properties. The role covers mechanical, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, fire safety, and pool/spa systems, with travel to properties across the region.

You will collaborate with on-site engineers, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance while reporting on actions and capital needs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of hotel, facility, or building maintenance experience.
• 3+ years of management or multi-property oversight experience.
• In-depth knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, pool/spa, and fire safety systems.
• Certified Pool and Spa Operator (CPO) certification required, or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
• Valid driver’s license, clean MVR, and active automobile insurance required.
• Reliable transportation and ability to travel between assigned properties.
• Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and during severe weather conditions as needed.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Comfortable using office software and maintenance management systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of safety regulations and loss control principles.
• High emotional intelligence, professionalism, and composure under pressure.
• Ability to lift up to 60 lbs., climb ladders up to 30 feet, and work in high or confined spaces.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance on building systems, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, fire safety, and pool/spa equipment across assigned properties.
• Maintain and monitor pool and spa operations in compliance with local health and safety regulations, including chemical testing, water balance, and equipment upkeep.
• Assist on-site Chief Engineers and maintenance staff with hands-on technical guidance and troubleshooting.
• Ensure ongoing compliance with safety standards, health codes, and building regulations.
• Document maintenance activities, inspections, and equipment status, and report on preventive maintenance, corrective actions, and capital improvement needs.
• Respond to maintenance requests from guests and staff in a timely, professional manner.
• Support energy conservation, sustainability, and operational efficiency initiatives.
• Coordinate with contractors and vendors on repairs, service calls, and capital projects.
• Provide after-hours and emergency support, including on-call rotations, weekends, holidays, and severe weather response.
• Travel regularly between assigned hotel properties in the region.
• Foster strong working relationships with hotel management teams, maintenance staff, contractors, and vendors.
• Promote a positive company image and uphold brand standards across all assigned properties.
