Job summary

Samuel, Son & Co. is seeking a qualified Welder to read blueprints and interpret welding specifications, operating GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, and OAW processes. You will cut, shape, and weld components in various positions while ensuring quality and safety standards.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED with trades training and hands-on welding experience. You will contribute to team welding operations and assist in training new staff in safe practices.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with one year of trades training and at least one year of related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as bills of material, blueprints, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
• Ability to read, write and perform basic math.
• Must possess good mechanical ability and the ability to perform basic calculations to operate welding and fabricating machines.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specification.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as GMAW, FCAW, SMAW, OAW.
• Operate manual or semi-automatic flame cutting equipment.
• Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines.
• May cut metal plates or structural shapes and work in various positions.
• Observe tests on welded surfaces to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.
• Inspect grooves, angles, or gap allowances using measuring tools.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Determine required equipment and welding method using metallurgy knowledge.
• Notify supervisor of any quality or safety issues.
• Train new employees in safe welding practices.
