Job summary

Special Education District of Lake County (SEDOL) seeks a Multi-Lingual Teacher (Spanish Speaking) to provide direct instruction to students with limited English proficiency across SEDOL sites. The role requires an EL/TBE endorsement, plus experience with students who have special needs.

Travel between Lake County sites is required to deliver services and collaborate with families and professionals. The teacher will administer assessments, implement ML instruction methods, and contribute to IEP

Qualifications

• A. EL or TBE Spanish endorsement.
• B. Certification in Special Education (LBS 1) preferred.
• C. Excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• E. Experience in and knowledgeable about working with students with special needs.
• F. Knowledge of assessment instruments for ML Students.

Responsibilities

Overview

The ML Special Education Teacher provides direct instruction to students with limited English proficiency attending SEDOL classes located throughout Lake County, necessitating travel between sites. The individual will display the ability to self-direct in an independent work environment. She/he will also collaborate and consult with teachers, parents and other professionals.

Performance Responsibilities:

• *1. Administer the W-APT and ACCESS tests.
• *2. Use appropriate research-based ML methods for direct instruction of academic skills to students with a variety of disabilities.
• *3. Consult with classroom teachers regarding best practice for instructing students with ML needs.
• *4. Use technology to become knowledgeable in Research Based Instruction/Materials for ML and share with educational team members.
• *5. Review and process all pertinent ML referral information.
• *6. Attend IEP meetings, parent conferences, team meetings and perform onsite students observations as needed.
• *7. Attend professional development pertinent to the role and present to colleagues on information learned.
• 8. Maintain required paperwork, including pertinent student data.
• *9. Maintain regular daily attendance.
• *10. Perform other duties as assigned for the betterment of the ML program.
