Job summary

The Illinois Association of School Administrators is seeking a bilingual special education teacher to provide Spanish-language instruction to students with disabilities for the 2026-2027 year. Candidates must be fluent in Spanish with an Illinois LBSI license and a BSPA endorsement, plus experience using data to guide instruction and collaborating

Qualifications

Duties

The bilingual special education teacher’s primary goal is to provide instruction in Spanish to children with disabilities according to the child’s Individual Education Program (IEP). The teacher is responsible for developing objectives and timelines that are appropriate to the student’s needs as indicated in their IEP. The teacher is responsible for planning and implementing engaging instruction in a self-contained setting that is aligned with the curriculum and modified to meet the needs and abilities of each student.The teacher monitors student progress and communicates regularly with parents, staff, and administrators. The teacher collaborates with other classroom teachers and related service providers in the development and implementation of best practices, thus ensuring that the students’ needs are met in all school settings. Positions at the K-2 level and grades 3-5 are available for the 2026-2027 school year.

Qualifications
  • Current and valid Illinois Professional Educator License with special education (LBSI) and bilingual (BSPA) endorsements.
  • Candidates who have passed the state TLP Spanish test and have obtained an ELS (TBE) license may also be considered.
  • Foundational knowledge of Google Classroom applications.
  • Individual must be flexible,creative and child centered.
  • Ability to assess the learning of students and modify or enhance instruction as needed.
  • Ability to analyze various forms of data and use the information to make instructional decisions.
  • Knowledge of learning styles and skill in using standards-based varied teaching methods to address student learning styles.
  • Strong knowledge of the WIDA and state standards, as well as instructional best practices in language, literacy, and mathematics.
  • Ability to work with the special education coordinator to facilitate IEP meetings.
  • Candidate must be able to speak, read, and write Spanish fluently.
Salary/Benefits
  • Starting salaryof $54,344 (salary schedule).
  • Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
  • Qualified candidates may be granted up to twentyyears of verified full-time teaching experience for credit on the salary schedule.

Additional Notes
