Job summary

Cherokee Millwright is seeking a Multi-Craft Millwright to install, dismantle, or move machinery and heavy equipment per layout plans and drawings. The role requires cross-training across trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal, and civil work.

Employees will be expected to perform installations, alignments, and rigging with lifts and hand tools; a strong emphasis is placed on safety and precise workmanship in a field-based environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 2–4 years related experience or training.
• Cross-training in multiple trades such as millwrighting, pipefitting, welding, sheet metal and civil trades.

Responsibilities

• Examine objects, systems, or facilities to determine needed installations, services, or repairs.
• Reads blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Dismantles machines and moves equipment using hoists, dollies, rollers, airbags, and fork trucks.
• Assembles and installs equipment with shafting, conveyors, and tram rails.
• Constructs foundation for machines; insert shims and adjust bolts for specified clearances.
• Aligns machines using hoists, jacks, hand tools, squares, rules, micrometers, and plumb bobs.
• Bolts and welds equipment to foundations or structures.
• Operates forklifts, scissor lifts, and boom lifts.
• Additional skills in other crafts will be necessary to meet customer needs.
