Job summary

Monarch Steel Company of Alabama, Inc. in Decatur, AL is seeking a Maintenance Technician to oversee installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of production equipment and the plant.

You will apply in-depth knowledge of industrial maintenance to select the best action. This role requires welding, hydraulic and pneumatic skills, electrical basics, and the ability to read safety rules and operate within OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Experience in welding and cutting.
• Forklift/crane certification.
• Experience in hydraulic and pneumatic repairs and installation.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems and the use of a multimeter.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Ability to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the company.
• Able to read and interpret safety rules, work instructions, operating instructions, maintenance information and procedure manuals written in English.
• Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; able to compute rates, ratios and percentages.

There are open positions available for 2nd & 3rd Shift. Second Shift is 1pm-11:30pm and Third Shift is 8pm-6:30am. There is a shift differential for both of these opportunities of $1.50/hr that is separate from your pay rate.

Position Summary

Under direction from the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for installation, repair, and preventative maintenance of both the production equipment and the physical plant. The work can be very complex, requiring in-depth knowledge of general industrial maintenance practices and procedures to select the appropriate course of action.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Education Requirements

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent, required.
• One-year certificate from a technical school, preferred.
• Industry knowledge and experience, a plus.
