Job summary

Service Center Metals, Inc. in Prince George, VA is hiring Industrial Maintenance Technicians to support a multi-craft maintenance team. You will troubleshoot and repair production equipment, perform preventive maintenance, and develop skills across multiple trades.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of industrial maintenance or related skilled trades preferred.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair industrial production equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems.

• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance.
• Read and interpret schematics.

Service Center Metals (SCM), a leader in the aluminum industry, is expanding and strengthening our Maintenance Team at our Prince George, VA manufacturing facility.

As members of our Maintenance Team continue to advance into new roles, we're adding talented Industrial Maintenance Technicians to our existing crews. We're also expanding our maintenance capabilities by adding a dedicated Preventive Maintenance (PM) crew.

The Position

This is a multi-craft maintenance position. Our technicians work across mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, welding, fabrication, and other maintenance disciplines.

You do not need to be an expert in every trade. We're looking for experienced maintenance professionals who are strong in one or more areas and are willing to cross-train and develop their skills across multiple maintenance trades.

Compensation & Schedule

• $25–$45/hour, based on experience and skill level
• Weekly production incentive averaging approximately $5/hour
• 2-2-3 schedule — work only 7 days every two weeks
• Off every other weekend
• 12-hour shifts

What You'll Do

As an Industrial Maintenance Technician, you'll help keep our manufacturing equipment running safely and efficiently.

• Troubleshoot and repair industrial production equipment
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic equipment problems
• Maintain and repair motors, conveyors, gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and other industrial equipment
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance
• Read and interpret mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics
• Perform welding, fabrication, and equipment modifications as needed
• Assist with equipment installation and upgrades
• Work with Maintenance and Operations to minimize equipment downtime
• Cross-train in multiple maintenance trades and continue developing your technical skills

What We're Looking For

• 2+ years of industrial maintenance or related skilled-trades experience preferred
• Strong mechanical and/or electrical troubleshooting skills
• Experience with industrial machinery or heavy equipment
• Experience in one or more areas such as:
• Mechanical maintenance
• Hydraulics and pneumatics
• Motors and motor controls
• Gearboxes and power transmission
• Welding and fabrication
• Preventive maintenance
• Ability and willingness to learn and work across multiple maintenance trades
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• High school diploma or GED required

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on industrial physical position. Employees must be able to regularly lift up to 75 pounds; bend, reach, stoop, and work around industrial equipment; and work in hot and cold manufacturing environments, including areas that may reach approximately 120°F.
