Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience in work involving the construction or repair and maintenance of building and grounds.

Responsibilities

• Supervises workers engaged in painting and structural repairs to masonry, woodwork, and furnishings of buildings and similar structures.
• Supervises workers maintaining and repairing building utility systems such as electrical wiring, heating, cooling, ventilation, and steam generating systems.
• Supervises workers maintaining and repairing plumbing systems.
• Oversees lawn care, cleaning building interiors, and related grounds maintenance tasks.
• May supervise workers installing, servicing, and repairing mechanical equipment.
• Communicates with County departments, architects, engineers and legal counsel.
• Oversees library buildings, furniture, fixtures, equipment and shelving.
• Oversees Purchasing Department and vehicle services including book delivery trucks.
• Plans and supervises maintenance and repair programs.
• Assigns workers to tasks and reviews progress and conformance with specifications.
• Supervises central heating plant and other mechanical/electrical/plumbing systems.
• Assists in emergency situations and weather-related issues.
• Inspects buildings and recommends improvements, alternations and repairs with estimates.
• Maintains records of materials, supplies, time and work performed.
• Provides budget-related information and recommendations for improvements.
• Requisitions, receives, stores, and issues materials and supplies.
• Prepares bid specifications for supplies and equipment.
• Directs maintenance staff and external vendors to ensure contract compliance.
• Prepares reports and maintains records and files.
