Job summary

Chicago Public Schools is seeking a Teacher to oversee instructional planning, pupil progress, and classroom management in accordance with district objectives. The role includes preparing lesson plans, applying current teaching methods, and maintaining accurate records of student achievement.

The teacher will communicate with parents about progress and conduct, participate in professional meetings, and may coordinate field trips and after-school activities within CPS guidelines.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching requirements and state teaching certification.
• Valid Illinois teaching license (PEL or ELS) endorsed for the position.

Responsibilities

• Plan instruction and prepare written lesson plans consistent with program objectives.
• Establish positive learning environments and maintain attendance records and seating charts.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about progress, attendance, and conduct; counsel pupils as needed.
• Implement disciplinary policies per CPS Uniform Discipline Code and school procedures.
• Support field trips, after-school activities, and use community resources.
