Job summary

Chicago Public Schools seeks a dedicated Teacher responsible for instruction, progress monitoring, and maintaining discipline in assigned classes. The role involves planning lessons, applying current teaching methods, and utilizing available instructional resources to support student learning.

The teacher will communicate with parents, participate in professional meetings, and coordinate with staff on attendance initiatives and school programs. A valid Illinois teaching certificate is required.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of student teaching and coursework to obtain a teaching certificate (PEL or ELS) from the Illinois State Board of Education.
• Knowledge of subject matter and current teaching practices per Illinois standards.
• Ability to maintain fair teacher-pupil relationships and communicate effectively with parents.

Responsibilities

• Plan instructional lessons and prepare written lesson plans aligned with objectives.
• Establish and enforce classroom rules and procedures.
• Evaluate pupil progress and maintain accurate records of achievements.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about academic progress and conduct.
• Participate in in-service and staff meetings and contribute to school programs.
