Job summary

Pleasant Valley School District invites applicants for a Reading and Math Interventionist serving grades 4–8. The role delivers Tier II and III interventions, works with students, teachers, and families, and uses data to tailor instruction within the MTSS framework.

The Interventionist collaborates with staff to monitor progress, adjusts plans, and maintains records, aiming to accelerate learning and close achievement gaps while promoting a supportive, trauma-informed classroom environment.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with an appropriate teaching endorsement.
• Bachelor's Degree from an accredited educational institution required.
• Experience providing reading and/or mathematics intervention is preferred.
• Knowledge of MTSS and RtI practices preferred.
• Knowledge of research-based intervention strategies and programs.
• Strong ability to use assessment data to inform instruction.
• Demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver targeted Tier II and Tier III reading and mathematics interventions to individual students and small groups.
• Use assessment data, screening results, and progress-monitoring data to identify gaps and determine intervention needs.
• Implement research-based intervention programs with fidelity.
• Provide targeted reading instruction addressing phonics, decoding, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension.
• Provide targeted mathematics instruction covering number sense, computation, fluency, problem-solving, and reasoning.
• Develop intervention plans based on data and student needs.
• Monitor progress and adjust interventions as needed.
• Maintain accurate records of intervention participation and outcomes.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers to align interventions with curriculum and expectations.
• Collaborate with special education staff when students receive additional supports.
• Participate in MTSS/RtI meetings and communicate progress to staff and families.
• Maintain confidentiality per FERPA and applicable laws.
• Engage in professional development and district initiatives.
