Job summary

Cherokee County School District in Canton, Georgia seeks a Part-Time Academic and Support Counselor to provide academic, behavioral, and mental health services to students in grades 6–12, delivering MTSS-based support across universal, targeted, and intensive levels.

Reports to the Coordinator, Student Support; requires a Master’s degree or higher with certification in School Social Work, Counseling, or Psychology, plus experience with student supports and collaboration with families and staff.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher with proper certification in a related field.
• Experience providing school-based mental or behavioral health services.
• Knowledge of MTSS and data-informed decision-making.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct mental and behavioral health services at Tier 1, 2, and 3 levels.
• Serve as a mentor for identified students.
• Monitor attendance, academics, and behavior data to inform interventions.
• Develop and implement individualized academic and behavioral support plans.
• Coordinate tutoring and credit recovery as needed.
• Engage with parents/guardians and collaborate with staff to implement supports.
