Cherokee County School District - GA is seeking a Part-Time Academic and Support Counselor to provide academic, behavioral, and mental health services to students in grades 6–12 within the MTSS framework. The role focuses on Tier 1–3 supports and acts as a trusted mentor to students.

Evaluation Instrument: PEI
Master’s degree or higher with proper certification in School Social Work, School Counseling, School Psychology, or a closely related field as required by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission. Three (3) or more years of experience as an educator or school-based mental health professional. Experience providing school-based mental or behavioral health services to adolescents and knowledge of MTSS, attendance interventions, trauma-informed practices, and evidence-based mental health supports preferred. Hold valid Georgia Motor Vehicle operator’s license with endorsements compatible with assigned duties and an acceptable motor vehicle record as determined by the district. Strong collaboration, communication, and data-informed decision-making skills.
The Part-Time Academic and Support Counselor provides academic, behavioral, and mental health services to students in grades 6–12. The position delivers Tier 1, Tier 2, and Tier 3 support within the Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework and serves as a consistent trusted adult through a structured mentor program. This role supports the District and school-based initiatives focused on student attendance, engagement, behavioral health/well‑being, and removal of barriers to learning in alignment with grant requirements
