Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens, Inc. is seeking a Social Worker to join the HomeBase homelessness prevention program.

Under supervision, you will provide assessment, intake, crisis intervention, and comprehensive case management for clients at risk of homelessness, including financial assistance referrals and advocacy. The role requires a Master's in social work, willingness to travel across the five boroughs, and flexibility to work evenings or weekends as needed.

Qualifications

• Master's in social work from an accredited school is required.
• Experience supervising interns is a plus.
• Bilingual skills in Spanish are a plus.
• Ability to work flexible hours including weekends/evenings as needed.
• Able to conduct home/field visits and travel throughout the five boroughs.

Responsibilities

• Provide case management, assessment, and intake to determine eligibility for services.
• Engage, outreach, and promote HomeBase services to at-risk individuals.
• Advocate, link, and escort participants to prevent homelessness.
• Ensure regular client contact and maintain case records.
• Submit timely financial assistance requests with supervisor approval.
• Guide clients on housing issues, mediate with landlords, and accompany to viewings.
• Make referrals to internal and external services as required.
• Supervise bachelor and master level interns.
