Job summary

Dormont Manufacturing Co is looking for a Reactor Director to lead the Molten Salt Research Reactor (MSRR) operations. The role includes overseeing reactor operations, compliance, and training new operators. Candidates should have a strong background in nuclear engineering and be committed to safety.

The position requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree, a Senior Reactor Operator license, and 3–5 years of operations experience. The candidate must align with ACU’s Christian mission and values.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3–5 years of reactor operations experience in a research or commercial environment.
• Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, managing external contractors, and mentoring reactor operators.

Responsibilities

• Operate the MSRR in accordance with NRC/DOE licenses and approved procedures.
• Train and supervise Reactor Operators and student operators.
• Participate in safety drills and emergency preparedness exercises.
• Ensure completion of accurate reactor logs, operating records, and NRC/DOE required reports.

Skills

Strong technical knowledge of reactor systems and operations

Ability to lead teams under both normal and emergency conditions

Strong attention to detail in recordkeeping and compliance

Effective communication and mentoring skills

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or related field

Master’s or doctoral degree for dual faculty appointment
