Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and industry experience.
• Be current on the applicable New Miner and Annual Refresher training
• Minimum 3 years verifiable mining experience within the last 5 years
• Strong computer skills
• Successful completion of an MSHA-accepted instructor training course, or ability to complete the course within six months of employment.
• Knowledge of MSHA regulations, standards, and training requirements
• Valid driver's license and current auto insurance
• Ability to travel statewide as needed for training delivery and mine site support

Responsibilities

• Instruct MSHA Part 46, Part 48A, and Part 48B courses in accordance with MSHA-approved training plans.
• Deliver New Miner, Annual Refresher, site-specific, and task training.
• Provide short-topic safety refreshers and specialized courses (e.g., electrical safety, haulage equipment, dredging operations, PPE, silica dust hazards).
• Use interactive instructional methods including videos, role play, case studies, and hands-on demonstrations including virtual reality simulations.
• Ensure student learning outcomes are achieved and documented.
• Evaluate and record student performance; provide regular feedback.
• Maintain a safe instructional environment for students and staff.
