Job summary

MSAD 46 is seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to support students through behavior-analytic assessment, consultation, and coaching with school staff, to help students access educational programs in the least restrictive environment.

The role involves conducting FBAs and developing BIPs with IEP teams, designing data collection systems, and providing in-classroom coaching without formal supervisory authority, while maintaining FERPA confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Must hold Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or related field.
  • Must hold current Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) approval.
  • Must hold or be eligible for Maine certification/authorization as required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and develops individualized Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) in collaboration with the IEP team.
  • Designs data collection systems and analyzes behavioral data to monitor student progress and adjust interventions.
  • Provides in-classroom coaching, modeling, and support to teachers and educational technicians implementing behavior plans, without formal supervisory authority.
  • Assists school teams in integrating evidence-based ABA practices into classroom routines and instruction.
  • Models de-escalation and crisis-prevention strategies and supports staff in responding to significant behavioral needs.
  • Participates as a member of IEP teams, providing behavior-related recommendations for eligibility, planning, and progress-monitoring meetings.
  • Collaborates with all members of the team.
  • Provides training and professional development to staff on behavioral intervention strategies and evidence-based practices.
  • Maintains confidentiality of student and family information in accordance with FERPA.
  • Manages a caseload across multiple school buildings and prioritizes competing demands.

Qualifications
  • Holds current certification as a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB);
  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Psychology, or a related field;
  • Holds current Criminal History Records Check (CHRC) approval;
  • Holds, or is eligible to hold, applicable Maine Department of Education certification/authorization as required for the role.

Evaluation

Performance of this job will be evaluated annually by the Director of Special Services in accordance with district policy.
