Job summary

San Francisco Friends School seeks an Interim Middle School Learning Specialist (grades 5-8) for the 2026-2027 academic year. The role centers on advocating for students with diverse learning needs and aligning pedagogy with Quaker values.

Salary is placement on the teacher scale with comprehensive benefits. You will partner with teachers, families, and specialists to design and implement strategies that broaden access to the curriculum.

Qualifications

• B.A. and a Teaching Credential (or equivalent).
• Learning Specialist degree or equivalent credentials.
• Middle school teaching experience.
• Experience with language-based learning differences.
• Knowledge of assessment techniques and resources.
• Ability to communicate with teachers about learning differences.

Responsibilities

• Case manages students with learning profiles for two grades and communicates with families.
• Works with students individually and in small groups in or outside class.
• Facilitates accommodations for students during class and testing.
• Collaborates with faculty on best practices in student support.
• Provides educational screenings and referrals for outside evaluations.
• Coordinates with SLS team and counseling to support students.
