Job summary

Iambic Therapeutics in San Diego seeks a Research Scientist to develop and implement mass spectrometry–based bioanalytical assays and workflows supporting HitID, ADME/DMPK characterization, and property assessment. The role sits at the interface of experimental science, automation, and AI-driven molecular design, delivering high-quality data to inform compound optimization.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Bioanalytical Chemistry or related field with 0–5 years of relevant experience, or M.S. with significant industry experience.
• Strong foundation in mass spectrometry and assay development with hands-on LC-MS/MS experience.
• Experience developing, optimizing, and troubleshooting bioanalytical or screening assays.
• Strong quantitative design and data quality mindset; good troubleshooting skills.
• Interest in connecting experimental data with AI/ML-enabled drug discovery and molecular design.

Responsibilities

• Develop MS-based assays and screening workflows for HitID, including ASMS.
• Develop bioanalytical and biochemical assays for screening, hit confirmation, and compound characterization.
• Execute in vitro ADME/DMPK assays including metabolic stability and permeability.
• Develop and optimize solubility, logD, ePSA and related physicochemical assays.
• Develop LC-MS/MS methods and troubleshoot performance and matrix effects.
• Create automated, high-throughput assay workflows to increase capacity and data quality.
• Support MS/LC-MS instrumentation and automation operation.
• Generate high-quality datasets to support AI/ML-driven compound design.
• Collaborate with biology, HitID, medicinal chemistry, DMPK, and AI teams to translate results into insights.
• Evaluate new technologies and automation to expand drug discovery capabilities.
