Job summary

Comlux America in Indianapolis, IN is seeking an experienced MRO Avionics Maintenance Lead to plan, coordinate, and lead day-to-day avionics maintenance activities for scheduled and unscheduled work. You will provide technical direction, mentor technicians, and ensure all work meets FAA regulations and company procedures.

The role requires 8+ years in avionics maintenance, strong troubleshooting, and leadership abilities, with proficiency in reading manuals and electrical drawings.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Avionics certification, A&P certificate, or technical training preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive avionics maintenance experience in aviation/MRO environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership as Lead Technician, Crew Lead, or Senior Avionics Technician.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting, repairing, and testing complex avionics systems.
  • Strong ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, IPCs, drawings, and service documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of FAA regulations, airworthiness, and maintenance documentation practices.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, schedule, and assign daily avionics maintenance activities to technicians.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship for troubleshooting and maintenance of avionics systems.
  • Lead and support technicians in fault isolation, diagnostics, testing, and corrective maintenance.
  • Coordinate scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities, inspections, repairs, and system upgrades.
  • Ensure work complies with manuals, wiring diagrams, data, FAA regulations, and procedures.
  • Troubleshoot and verify proper operation of avionics systems including comms, navigation, and flight systems.
  • Review discrepancies, determine corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of write-ups.
  • Perform checks, functional testing, and return-to-service inspections.

Role Description

The MRO Avionics Maintenance Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading the day-to-day activities of the avionics maintenance team in support of scheduled maintenance, inspections, aircraft modifications, and unscheduled repair activities. Therole provides technical direction, oversees troubleshooting and repair efforts, and ensures all maintenance work is performed in accordance with FAA regulations, approved maintenance data, company procedures, and customerrequirements.

Essential Job Functions
  • Plan, schedule, and assign daily avionicsmaintenance activities to technicians to ensure efficient utilization ofresources and on-time aircraft delivery.
  • Provide technical guidance, on-the-jobtraining (OJT), and mentorship related to troubleshooting, repair, inspection,testing, and maintenance of avionics systems and equipment.
  • Lead and support technicians in performingfault isolation, diagnostics, operational testing, and corrective maintenanceof aircraft avionics systems.
  • Coordinate scheduled and unscheduledmaintenance activities, including inspections, service bulletins, repairs,modifications, and system upgrades.
  • Ensure all work performed complies withapproved maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, engineering data, FAAregulations, and company procedures.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and verify the properoperation of communication, navigation, surveillance, flight management, cabin,and electrical systems.
  • Review maintenance discrepancies, determinecorrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of aircraft write-ups.
  • Perform and oversee operational checks,functional testing, and return-to-service inspections to verify systemreliability and airworthiness.
  • Ensure accurate completion of maintenancedocumentation, logbook entries, work orders, and regulatory records.
  • Monitor maintenance quality standards,minimize rework, and promote first-time fix performance.
  • Support aircraft-on-ground (AOG) and rapidresponse maintenance activities as required.
  • Promote and enforce a safe work environmentwhile ensuring compliance with all company safety policies and regulatoryrequirements.
  • Communicate maintenance status, resourcerequirements, technical issues, and schedule risks to leadership, qualitypersonnel, and customers.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance,Engineering, Planning, Structures, and Aircraft Maintenance departments toensure efficient maintenance operations.
  • Mentor junior technicians and support careerdevelopment to strengthen overall team capability and technical expertise.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.Avionics certification, A&P Certificate, or technical training preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of progressive avionicsmaintenance experience within business aviation, commercial aviation, militaryaviation, or MRO environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience as a LeadTechnician, Crew Lead, or Senior Avionics Technician.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting,repairing, and testing complex avionics systems.
  • Strong ability to read and interpretaircraft maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, IPCs, engineering drawings, andservice documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of FAA regulations,airworthiness requirements, and maintenance documentation practices.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, andunderstand the English language.

  • Ability to manage multiple maintenancepriorities in a fast-paced MRO environment.
  • Strong customer-service mindset with theability to support maintenance schedule commitments and aircraft deliveryobjectives.
Preferred Qualifications
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P)Certificate preferred.
  • Experience with Gulfstream, Bombardier,Airbus Corporate Jets (ACJ), or Boeing Business Jets (BBJ) preferred.
  • Experience using maintenance trackingsystems and electronic maintenance records.
  • Previous experience in a Part 145 RepairStation environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with RVSM, ADS-B, FMS, SATCOM,CPDLC, and modern integrated avionics systems preferred.
Work Environment

This position is based in an aircraft hangarenvironment and may involve:
