Role Description
The MRO Structures Lead provides technicalleadership and daily direction for the Structures team supporting VIP aircraftcompletion, modification, and maintenance projects. Under minimal supervision,this role plans, coordinates, and executes structural work activities while ensuringprojects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineeringdata, aircraft maintenance manuals, company procedures, and regulatoryrequirements.
The MRO Structures Lead serves as a technicalresource for Structures Technicians, providing hands-on guidance,troubleshooting support, and mentorship while maintaining high standards ofworkmanship, quality, and productivity. This position works closely withEngineering, Quality, Project Management, and Production Leadership to resolvetechnical issues, support schedule commitments, and deliver aircraft tocustomer expectations.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead and coordinate daily activities of theStructures team to support aircraft completion, modification, and maintenanceschedules.
- Plan, prioritize, and assign workassignments based on production requirements, technician skill levels, projecttimelines, and available resources.
- Provide hands-on technical guidance,coaching, and on-the-job training to Structures Technicians regardingstructural installation, repair, modification, and fabrication practices.
- Interpret and apply engineering drawings,aircraft maintenance manuals, work instructions, and other technicaldocumentation.
- Perform and oversee structural repairs,modifications, removals, installations, fabrication, and adjustments inaccordance with approved data and company standards.
- Provide technical support for measuring,layout, drilling, trimming, fitting, and installation of aircraft structuresand components.
- Coordinate with Engineering teams, bothinternal and external, to resolve technical issues, clarify designrequirements, and support production execution.
- Perform precision measurements, damageassessments, and structural evaluations to determine repair requirements andsupport technical documentation.
- Ensure all assigned work is completed incompliance with FAA regulations, company procedures, engineeringspecifications, and quality standards.
- Review completed work documentation,including electronic sign-offs, maintenance records, and production paperwork,ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Support first-time quality initiatives byidentifying opportunities to reduce rework, improve processes, and increaseproduction efficiency.
- Monitor team performance, workmanship, andadherence to established aircraft completion standards.
- Assist with implementation and execution ofengineering changes, revisions, and aircraft modification requirements.
- Promote a culture of safety by ensuringcompliance with company safety policies, procedures, and aircraft handlingrequirements.
- Communicate project status, technicalchallenges, resource needs, and schedule risks to Production Leadership andcross-functional teams.
- Mentor and develop Structures Technicians bysharing technical knowledge, reinforcing best practices, and supporting careergrowth.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education andExperience
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 6 years of aircraft structuresexperience, preferably within a corporate aviation completion, MRO,modification, or heavy maintenance environment.
- Demonstrated experience leading or mentoringaircraft structures technicians.
- Experience performing aircraft structuralinstallation, repair, modification, and fabrication.
- Experience interpreting aircraft drawings,blueprints, engineering documentation, and technical instructions.
Licenses & Certifications
- FAA Airframe (A) Certificate required.
- FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Strong understanding of aircraft structuralrepair techniques, materials, tooling, and installation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret engineeringdrawings, blueprints, schematics, and aircraft technical publications.
- Ability to perform precision measurementsand use aircraft sheet metal and structural tooling.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitmentto quality workmanship.
- Ability to effectively communicate technicalinformation with technicians, engineers, quality personnel, and leadership.
- Ability to work independently whileeffectively leading a team in a fast-paced aircraft completion environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills with theability to identify and resolve technical challenges
