Job summary

Comlux America in Indianapolis seeks a Liaison Engineer to serve as the main engineering interface during aircraft completion and modification activities. You will resolve production-related issues, develop design revisions, and support installations while ensuring regulatory compliance.

You will collaborate with Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management, preparing engineering drawings and documentation and supporting FAA certification processes as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering required.
  • Minimum 2–5 years supporting aircraft completions or interiors.
  • Experience with FAA-certified modification programs or STCs preferred.
  • Familiarity with transport category certification under 14 CFR Part 25 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary engineering interface between Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Program Management during completion and modification activities.
  • Investigate and resolve production-related engineering issues, discrepancies, and installation challenges.
  • Develop engineering dispositions, repairs schemes, design revisions, and corrective actions for aircraft completion.
  • Revise designs involving primary/secondary structures, cabin furnishings, and systems installations.
  • Develop and revise engineering drawings, installation packages, and technical documentation.
  • Coordinate redesign efforts with multiple engineering teams and regulatory bodies.
  • Support certification activities by providing documentation and substantiation.

Role Description

The Liaison Engineer serves as the primaryengineering interface between Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain,and Program Management during aircraft completion and modification activities.This role is responsible for resolving production-related engineering issues,developing design revisions and repair solutions, supporting aircraftinstallations, and ensuring modifications comply with applicable regulatory,certification, and company requirements.

Essential Job Functions
  • Serve as the primary engineering support resource for Production, Quality, and Operations teams during aircraft completion and modification activities.
  • Investigate and resolve production-related engineering issues, discrepancies, non-conformances, and installationchallenges.
  • Develop engineering dispositions, repairschemes, design revisions, and corrective actions to support aircraftcompletion activities.
  • Revise mechanical designs involving aircraftprimary and secondary structures, cabin monuments, furnishings, mechanical and interiorsystems installations.
  • Develop and revise engineering drawings,installation packages, and technical documentation in support of aircraftmodifications.
  • Support the integration of structural,mechanical systems, electrical, avionics, and interior systems throughout the aircraftconfiguration.
  • Coordinate redesign efforts with ProjectEngineers, Design Engineers, Certification Engineers, and EngineeringLeadership.
  • Evaluate proposed production solutions toensure compliance with FAA regulations, certification requirements, customerspecifications, and engineering best practices.
  • Support aircraft certification activities byproviding technical documentation and engineering substantiation as required.
  • Interface with suppliers, outside servicevendors, manufacturing personnel, procurement, and regulatory representativesto resolve technical issues.
  • Participate in production meetings andprovide engineering updates related to open issues, risks, schedule impacts,and resolution plans.
  • Monitor engineering issue resolution metricsand ensure timely closure of production support requests.
  • Support continuous improvement initiativesfocused on reducing engineering turnaround times, rework, and productiondisruptions.
  • Assist in developing and improvingengineering procedures, standards, and best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace Engineering,Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum of 2–5 years of engineeringexperience supporting aircraft completions, modifications, interiors, ortransport category aircraft programs.
  • Experience working with FAA-certifiedaircraft modification programs, STCs, or aircraft interior installationspreferred.
  • Experience supporting productionenvironments and resolving manufacturing or installation-related engineeringissues preferred.
  • Familiarity with transport category aircraftcertification requirements under 14 CFR Part 25 preferred.
  • Valid passport with the ability to traveldomestically and internationally as required.
Required Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency with Computer-Aided Drafting andDesign (SolidWorks preferred; AutoCAD experience beneficial).
  • Knowledge of aircraft interior completions,structural modifications, and engineering documentation standards.
  • Understanding of FAA regulations, certification processes, and aircraft modification requirements.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings,specifications, installation instructions, and certification documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solvingskills with the ability to develop practical engineering solutions in a production environment.
  • Ability to work independently whileeffectively collaborating across multiple departments.
  • Strong organizational and time-managementskills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong customer-service mindset with the ability to support internal and external stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Officeapplications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to function effectively in a fast-paced aircraft completion environment while maintaining attention to detail and regulatory compliance.

This position is based in an aircraft hangarenvironment and may involve:
