Job summary

Comlux America LLC is seeking a MRO Structures Lead to provide technical leadership for the Structures team supporting VIP aircraft completion, modification, and maintenance projects in Indianapolis, IN. The role drives safe, efficient work aligned with engineering data and regulatory requirements.

You will mentor Structures Technicians, coordinate with Engineering, Quality, and Production Leadership, and ensure workmanship and productivity meet high standards while maintaining schedule

Qualifications

  • Six years of aircraft structures experience, preferably in corporate aviation completion/modification.
  • Experience leading or mentoring aircraft structures technicians.
  • Ability to interpret aircraft drawings, blueprints, and technical instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of the Structures team for completion, modification, and maintenance.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign work based on production requirements and resources.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and mentoring to Structures Technicians.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and maintenance manuals to ensure compliance with FAA and company standards.
  • Support engineering changes and ensure safety and quality in all work.

Role Description

The MRO Structures Lead provides technical leadership and daily direction for the Structures team supporting VIP aircraft completion, modification, and maintenance projects. Under minimal supervision, this role plans, coordinates, and executes structural work activities while ensuring projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering data, aircraft maintenance manuals, company procedures, and regulatory requirements.

The MRO Structures Lead serves as a technical resource for Structures Technicians, providing hands-on guidance, troubleshooting support, and mentorship while maintaining high standards of workmanship, quality, and productivity. This position works closely with Engineering, Quality, Project Management, and Production Leadership to resolve technical issues, support schedule commitments, and deliver aircraft to customer expectations.

Essential Job Functions
  • Lead and coordinate daily activities of the Structures team to support aircraft completion, modification, and maintenance schedules.
  • Plan, prioritize, and assign work assignments based on production requirements, technician skill levels, project timelines, and available resources.
  • Provide hands-on technical guidance, coaching, and on-the-job training to Structures Technicians regarding structural installation, repair, modification, and fabrication practices.
  • Interpret and apply engineering drawings, aircraft maintenance manuals, work instructions, and other technical documentation.
  • Perform and oversee structural repairs, modifications, removals, installations, fabrication, and adjustments in accordance with approved data and company standards.
  • Provide technical support for measuring, layout, drilling, trimming, fitting, and installation of aircraft structures and components.
  • Coordinate with Engineering teams, both internal and external, to resolve technical issues, clarify design requirements, and support production execution.
  • Perform precision measurements, damage assessments, and structural evaluations to determine repair requirements and support technical documentation.
  • Ensure all assigned work is completed in compliance with FAA regulations, company procedures, engineering specifications, and quality standards.
  • Review completed work documentation, including electronic sign-offs, maintenance records, and production paperwork, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Support first-time quality initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce rework, improve processes, and increase production efficiency.
  • Monitor team performance, workmanship, and adherence to established aircraft completion standards.
  • Assist with implementation and execution of engineering changes, revisions, and aircraft modification requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with company safety policies, procedures, and aircraft handling requirements.
  • Communicate project status, technical challenges, resource needs, and schedule risks to Production Leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Mentor and develop Structures Technicians by sharing technical knowledge, reinforcing best practices, and supporting career growth.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications, Education And Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 6 years of aircraft structures experience, preferably within a corporate aviation completion, MRO, modification, or heavy maintenance environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading or mentoring aircraft structures technicians.
  • Experience performing aircraft structural installation, repair, modification, and fabrication.
  • Experience interpreting aircraft drawings, blueprints, engineering documentation, and technical instructions.
Licenses & Certifications
  • FAA Airframe (A) Certificate required.
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certificate preferred.
Required Skills And Abilities
  • Strong understanding of aircraft structural repair techniques, materials, tooling, and installation practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and aircraft technical publications.
  • Ability to perform precision measurements and use aircraft sheet metal and structural tooling.
  • Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Ability to effectively communicate technical information with technicians, engineers, quality personnel, and leadership.
  • Ability to work independently while effectively leading a team in a fast-paced aircraft completion environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and resolve technical challenges
Work Environment

This position is based in an aircraft hangar environment and may involve:

  • Exposure to varying temperatures and weather conditions
  • Loud noise levels
  • Use of heavy machinery and specialized tools
  • Potential contact with chemicals or hazardous materials
  • Working in confined aircraft interior spaces
