Job description

Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking a qualified Part-time MRI Technologist in Somerville, NJ.

The MRI technologist operates under the supervision of MRI department leaders and is responsible for technical, supportive, and departmental tasks related to diagnostic procedures in the cardiac MRI suite and Cardio Dynamics Department, whether cardiac or radiological. The role requires the knowledge and skills to operate and maintain MR equipment in these settings.

The technologist also prepares patients for MRI procedures and provides care tailored to patients across age groups including adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.

Qualifications:

• ARRT Licensure with MRI Certification
• Ability to work independently
• GE experience required

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day shift, 24 hours/week
• Part-time schedule with on-call rotation

Professional and Technical Functions:

• Perform MRI scans to produce high-quality diagnostic images
• Operate MRI equipment and understand MR physics
• Develop protocols, with or without cardiologist assistance
• Understand cardiac anatomy and physiology for image setup
• Evaluate image quality, minimizing repeats
• Operate supportive equipment, including MRI coils, power injectors, and physiological monitoring devices
• Apply EKG leads, NIBP cuff, pulse oximeter probes appropriately
• Use MRI data analysis tools and save images in various formats
• Perform quality assurance tests and monitor system and equipment status
• Prepare and care for patients, including screening, education, and IV insertion when necessary
• Administer contrast injections as per protocol
• Provide emergency care, including CPR, as needed
