Job description

Job Overview:

RWJ Barnabas Health is seeking a qualified part-time CT Technologist in Somerville, NJ. The CT Technologist will perform a variety of CAT Scan procedures, prioritizing patient care and ensuring high-quality standards in imaging services.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Three years of hospital experience as a staff technologist preferred, with the ability to work independently.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

• State of New Jersey License and ARRT certification.
• CT certification obtained within 12-24 months of hire.
• CPR certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.

Scheduling Requirements:

• Day shift, 16 hours/week
• Part-time schedule

Essential Functions:

• Position patients and prepare them for examinations in accordance with standard procedures.
• Properly position all anatomical parts as indicated by SOPs.
• Prepare equipment and supplies to ensure prompt procedure start.
• Assist physicians with examinations and administer contrast agents under radiologist supervision.
• Implement radiation protection techniques to safeguard patients and staff.
• Transfer and position patients correctly to obtain optimal radiographic results.
• Perform IV contrast media administration, including venipuncture, under supervision.
• Maintain sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination.
• Ensure equipment and room readiness, including maintenance and stocking.
• Manage patient scheduling and contrast administration efficiently.
• Ensure quality control of CAT scan examinations.
• Utilize computer systems for entering and tracking studies, and perform clerical tasks as needed.
• Collaborate professionally with hospital staff, maintaining ethical relationships.
• Participate in shift rotations, including weekends and on-call duties.
• Attend departmental training and educational sessions.
• Explain procedures to patients and complete documentation accurately.
• Assist in training and evaluating student technologists.
