Job Overview:

RWJBarnabas Health is looking to add a qualified part-time Ultrasound Technologist within the Breast Center in Somerville, NJ.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High school graduate or equivalent required.
  • Graduate of an Accredited Ultrasound School.
  • Great working professionally and cooperatively with patients, physicians, and other hospital staff members.
  • Possess a pleasant bedside manner.

Preferred:

  • Minimum three years’ experience in a hospital setting performing breast ultrasound.

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • ARRT or ARDMS Certification required.
  • Must be BLS certified from American Heart Association.

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Day Shift, 24 hours/week.
  • Part-time Schedule.

Essential Functions:

  • Assist radiologist with breast biopsy procedures.
  • Demonstrate competency with the use of RIS and PACS.
  • Employ professional judgment and discretion while performing all imaging.
  • Enter patient information, select appropriate transducer, set initial power input and instrument gain for patient size and age, and select menu items as required for type of equipment to provide consistent and optimal image quality.
  • Interact with physicians regarding data.
  • Knowledge of physiology, disease, pathology, and pathophysiology.
  • Maintain clean examination rooms and work environment in all areas.
  • Maintain stock levels in all procedure rooms.
  • Obtain clinical history.
  • Recognize ultrasonic representation of normal and abnormal structures, organs, system relationships, and relational anatomy.
  • Report all equipment problems to the supervisor and enter an LT work order as appropriate.
  • Utilize proper positioning and technical factors to assure diagnostic quality images for interpretation.
  • Utilize all components of the RIS Mammography Module for entering new and follow-up patient information.
  • Provide a compassionate and supportive environment with prompt and consistent service.
  • Provide for the confidential treatment of all communications and records.
  • Demonstrate professionalism with families, visitors, physicians, co-workers, and supervisors.
  • Support teamwork by cooperative problem solving through participation in meetings and projects.
  • Utilize principles of continuous quality improvement in all work situations to assess, measure, and improve organizational and department functions.
  • Organize work, set priorities with a minimum of supervision, and seek guidance as appropriate.
  • Make decisions that are timely and consistent with department objectives, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrate sound judgment; accept and benefit from constructive criticism.
  • Participate in ongoing education as required.
