Job summary

Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC seeks an MRI Technologist to perform MRI scans and support physicians with invasive procedures. The role requires ARRT MRI registry eligibility, BLS, and ARRT/ARMRIT progress within 12 months of hire.

The position is PRN, with responsibilities from orders verification to dictated results, contrast administration, safety practices, and patient care across MRI services.

• Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development. Demonstrates the skills and competency appropriate to the ages, culture, developmental stages, and special needs of the patient population served.

Responsibilities

• Examines requests and verifies orders on each assigned patient. Refers and questions orders to the Radiologist before performing exam.
• Properly identify patients and assist with procedures; prepares patients with explanations.
• Interviews patients for medical history and reviews EMR for history; records history on requisitions.
• Assumes responsibility for the exam from start to dictated results.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast according to protocols; records type and amount.
• Evaluates image quality and consults Radiologist; processes additional images or measurements.
• Performs basic patient care; informs nursing of changes; assists in code blue when needed.
• Performs MRI scanning and assists during invasive procedures; follows sterile technique and infection control.
• Obtains medications or contrast material as directed by licensed practitioner.
• Practices radiation safety; reports equipment malfunctions and maintains safety standards.
• Maintains knowledge of MRI safety for staff and patients around magnetic fields.
