Job summary

Wilkes-Barre General Hospital is seeking a per diem MR technologist to perform magnetic resonance procedures while applying knowledge of cross‑sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, medical terminology and MRI safety.

The MR technologist serves as the primary liaison between patients and the interpreting radiologist, using professional judgment and critical thinking as a valued health‑care team member.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited radiology/related program with MRI training and certification.
• Two years of staff technologist experience preferred.
• MRI experience or internship preferred; cross-training may be provided.
• Competency in radiography and MRI safety.
• Knowledge of anatomy; manual dexterity; safety; communication; IV Therapy competency.

JOB LOCATION – Wilkes-Barre General Hospital

JOB SHIFT – Per Diem

POSITION PURPOSE

Perform magnetic resonance procedures while demonstrating an understanding of human cross-sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology, pharmacology, medical terminology and magnetic safety. The MR technologist relies on good communication skills to act as the primary liaison between the patient and the interpreting radiologist. The use of professional and ethical judgment and critical thinking allow the technologist to be a responsible member of the health care team.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education

• Graduate of an accredited program in Radiology Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography or Radiation Therapy, either hospital based or college degree program, with advanced training and certification in MRI required.

Experience/Specialized Skills/Aptitudes

• A minimum of two (2) years' experience as a staff technologist is preferred.
• Experience/certification/internship in MRI is preferred, however cross-training will be provided at the discretion of the Director/Medical Director of Imaging Services.
• Competency in components of radiography practice as appropriate; MRI safety and protection.
• Technical expertise; knowledge of anatomy, teach/instruct, manual dexterity, safety conscious, clerical accuracy, communication skills. IV Therapy skill competency.

Licenses/Certificates

• Advanced registry/certification in MRI via the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• If cross-trained or internship in MRI, and registry eligible, must have advanced registry/certification in MRI within six (6) months of completion of MRI training.
• BLS required.
