Job summary

AdventHealth in Tampa is seeking an experienced MRI Technologist to perform high‑quality MRI examinations and ensure patient safety. You will educate patients, administer contrast, and operate MRI equipment following strict protocols.

The role requires knowledge of MRI procedures, scanners, and safety, with at least 1 year of radiology/MRI training and ARMRIT or ARRT MR(RT) certification. A patient‑centered, flexible communicator is essential.

Qualifications

• ARMRIT or ARRT MR(RT) certification required.
• BLS certification required.
• 1+ years experience in radiology and MRI training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use and that equipment is cleaned and safety checked.
• Educates patients about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions.
• Positions patients accurately and comfortably with immobilization and coil placement techniques.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast material and monitors for adverse reactions.
• Performs daily QC checks and ensures documentation in EMR/PACS.
• Follows patient identification, informed consent, and time-out procedures.
• Maintains and documents imaging in the EMR/PACS systems.
• Performs high-quality MRI examinations per physician orders and protocols.
• Reviews patient history to confirm exam appropriateness and identify contraindications.
• Screens patients and staff for MRI safety per policy and ensures compliance.

Job Description:

• Ensures exam rooms are clean, stocked, and ready for use, and that all equipment undergoes routine cleaning and safety checks.
• Notifies appropriate personnel when inventory is low.
• Educates patients and family members about MRI procedures, contrast use, and safety precautions, promoting comfort and cooperation throughout the exam.
• Positions patients accurately and comfortably using appropriate immobilization and coil placement techniques to ensure high-quality imaging.
• Prepares and administers IV contrast material following safety guidelines and monitors patients for adverse reactions.
• Performs and documents daily system quality control (QC) checks in compliance with departmental policies and regulatory requirements.
• Follows department protocols for patient identification, informed consent, and time‑out procedures prior to starting exams.
• Maintains accurate and timely documentation within the electronic medical record (EMR) and PACS systems.
• Performs high‑quality MRI examinations in accordance with physician orders and departmental protocols to ensure diagnostic image quality and patient safety.
• Reviews patient history and clinical information to confirm exam appropriateness and identify potential contraindications (e.g., implanted devices, metal, claustrophobia, contrast allergies).
• Screens all patients, staff, and equipment for MRI safety compliance per facility policy and current safety standards, including completion of required screening documentation.
• Operates all imaging equipment safely and properly, including scanners, injectors, and monitors, adapting protocols for patients of all ages.
• Other duties as assigned.
