Job summary

Geisinger is seeking a skilled Magnetic Resonance Technologist to perform MR imaging procedures in a clinical setting at the Wilkes-Barre location. You will ensure patient identification, prepare for exams and maintain confidentiality while applying ALARA principles to optimize safety and image quality.

The role involves administering medications via vascular access as prescribed, evaluating and archiving data, and mentoring students and staff.

Qualifications

  • ARRT-MR or NMTCB-MR certification required.
  • ARMRIT certification acceptable alternative.
  • Experience in MRI safety and patient prep.
  • Ability to document clinical history and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure correct patient identification and preparation for exam; document history with confidentiality.
  • Utilize imaging protocols and optimize technical factors while prioritizing patient safety (ALARA).
  • Prepare and/or administer medications via vascular access as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluate image quality, verify archival storage/transfer of data, and post-process if applicable.
  • Educate and monitor students and other health care providers.
  • Apply MRI safety principles to minimize risk to patient and staff.
  • Assist licensed practitioners with MR interventional procedures.
  • Perform MR imaging procedures as prescribed and select pulse sequences per protocol.
  • Demonstrate commitment to department priorities and participate in quality improvement.

Job description

  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and that clinical history is corroborated and appropriately documented while respecting confidentiality.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety, optimizing patient care, and applying principles of ALARA (As Low as Reasonably Achievable).
  • Preparing and/or administering, as applicable, medications through new or existing vascular access site as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality and verifies archival storage and/or transfer of data, post processing of data if applicable.
  • Educating and monitoring students and other health care providers.
  • Applying principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
  • Assisting the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
  • Performing magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Selecting appropriate pulse sequences with consideration given to established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
  • Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities.
  • Fully proficient in all assigned routine and complex job duties.
  • Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.
