Job summary

Geisinger is seeking an MRI Technologist for their Jersey Shore Hospital. The role involves using magnetic resonance imaging techniques to assist in diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. Technologists will prepare patients, ensure imaging protocols are followed, and evaluate images for technical quality.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Technologists are responsible for using radiofrequencies within a magnetic field for diagnostic, therapeutic, or research purposes. They perform MRI and acquire and analyze data necessary for diagnosis at the request of licensed practitioners. They independently perform or assist the licensed practitioner in completing MRI procedures and prepare, administer, and document medication activities per federal and state laws and institutional policy.

Job Duties
  • Ensures correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated, documented, and confidential.
  • Utilizes appropriate imaging protocol, optimizes technical factors, and applies ALARA principles.
  • Prepares or administers medications via vascular access as prescribed.
  • Evaluates images for proper positioning, technical quality, verifies archival storage/transfer and post‑processing if applicable.
  • Educates and monitors students and other health‑care providers.
  • Applies magnetic resonance safety principles to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
  • Assists the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
  • Performs MRI procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
  • Selects appropriate pulse sequences with consideration of protocols and acquisition parameters.
  • Demonstrates commitment to department and organizational priorities; fully proficient in all routine and complex duties.
  • Participates in modality quality or process improvement activities.
Position Details
  • Certifications required upon hire: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) – (R) or (MR); American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT); or Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB).
  • Education: Graduate from Specialty Training Program – Radiologic Technology (Required); Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Preferred).
  • Experience: Minimum two years of related work experience (Required).
  • Licenses: Basic Life Support certification; Certified MRI Technologist (ARMRIT); Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist (CNMT) – NMTCB; Radiography (R) – ARRT.
