Qualifications

• One of the following certifications is required upon hire: ARRT, NMTCB, ARMRIT.
• New graduates must obtain ARRT-R registry or equivalent prior to the first day of employment.
• Applicants hired after March 10, 2024, must complete steps for advancing to level 2 within 24 months.

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct order is obtained and clinical history is corroborated.
• Utilize appropriate imaging protocol and maximize patient safety.
• Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality.

Skills

Knowledge of magnetic resonance safety

Ability to select pulse sequences based on protocol

Education

Graduate from Specialty Training Program—Radiologic Technology

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study

Minimum of 1 year of related work experience

Job Summary

This posting reflects an opening for a MRI Technologist I. Geisinger reserves the right to consider applicants for higher levels of this role to include MRI Technologist II based on their skills, qualifications, and experience.

Location & Shift

Location: Geisinger Developmental Medicine Center & Susquehanna Valley Imaging
Shift: Evenings (United States of America)
Scheduled Weekly Hours: 20
Worker Type: Regular

Responsibilities

• Ensure correct order is obtained, patient is properly identified and prepared for exam, and clinical history is corroborated and documented while respecting confidentiality.
• Utilize appropriate imaging protocol, optimize technical factors, maximize patient safety, and apply principles of ALARA.
• Prepare and/or administer medications as applicable, through new or existing vascular access, as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Evaluate images for proper positioning and acceptable technical quality, verify archival storage and transfer of data, and post‑process data if applicable.
• Educate and monitor students and other health care providers.
• Apply principles of magnetic resonance safety to minimize risk to patient, self, and others.
• Assist the licensed practitioner with magnetic resonance interventional procedures.
• Perform magnetic resonance imaging procedures as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
• Select appropriate pulse sequences with consideration of established protocols and other factors influencing data acquisition parameters.
• Participate in MRI Safety implant investigation and approval process.

Qualifications

• Applicants hired after March102024 must complete steps required for advancing to level2, including advanced certification, within 24months.

Education & Experience

• Graduate from Specialty Training Program—Radiologic Technology (Required).
• Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of study (Preferred).
• Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (Preferred).

Certifications and Licenses

• Basic Life Support Certification.
• Certified MRI Technologist – ARMRIT.
• Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist – NMTCB.
• Radiography (R) – ARRT.
