Job summary

Southern Illinois Healthcare is seeking an MRI technologist to deliver high-quality imaging services. The role includes patient preparation, explaining procedures, and performing MR imaging in accordance with protocols and safety standards.

The candidate will ensure patient comfort, handle contrast agents as required, and participate in ongoing education to maintain imaging excellence and safety across the department.

Qualifications

• Associates degree in Radiology required.
• ARRT RT(R)(MR) license/certification required.
• BLS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepares and explains exams to patients.
• Maintains expertise in anatomy, physiology and pathology related to imaging to optimize procedures and ensure patient care/safety.
• Performs imaging procedures based on patient status, service requests, and imaging protocols.
• Monitors imaging quality through evaluations and supervision.
• Performs exams pertaining to the specialty area.
• Ensures MRI safety precautions for patients, families, staff, and others in MRI zones 3 and 4.
• Maintains current knowledge of procedures in the specialty area.
• Assesses patient needs and provides imaging-related comfort and support.
• Prepares contrast agents according to guidelines.
• Educates patients about MRI procedures and contrast media.
• Collaborates with team to ensure positive imaging services.
