Job summary

Mary Washington Healthcare is seeking an MRI Technologist to prepare patients and perform routine MRI procedures per physicians’ orders and the procedure manual, producing high quality images for timely radiologist interpretation.

You will maintain patient safety, greet and assist patients, manage supplies and documentation, participate in performance improvement, and work five 8-hour shifts, including evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• Six months’ relevant experience required (minimum of three in MRI OR successful and documented completion of cross-training).
• CPR certification required.
• Advanced MRI certification by ARRT or ARMRIT within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Prepares patients for MRI examinations by confirming physicians’ orders, verifying identities, and obtaining medical histories to ensure appropriate exams.
• Performs MRI examinations on all age groups and maintains competency with annual orientation and department policies.
• Greets patients and visitors professionally and addresses needs efficiently and confidentially.
• Answers telephone calls courteously and screens/transfers messages to support radiology communications.
• Maintains a safe environment by following MRI safety practices and education for staff and patients.
• Maintains inventory of supplies and restocks to prevent service interruptions.
• Records and files patient and procedural data for accurate billing and department operations.
• Participates in performance improvement activities using PDCA to drive quality.
• Remains proficient in Radiology and organizational information systems as needed.
