Job Description

This posting serves as a general site for all MRI applications within the Jefferson Health North region, including:

• Abington Memorial Hospital
• Jefferson Landsdale Hospital

• Jefferson Northeast Hospital locations (Bucks, Torresdale, Frankford)

MRI Technologist

Under the supervision of a radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures to produce detailed tissue images for medical diagnosis. Responsibilities include preparing information for physicians, delivering patient care and education before, during, and after procedures.

Essential Functions

• Interact with co-workers, visitors, and staff in accordance with Jefferson's values.
• Process and evaluate the technical quality of images, including density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
• Maintain patient and equipment positioning during contrast media flow to ensure safety and examination success.
• Instruct patients on body positioning during MRI exams and communicate effectively, explaining procedures and answering questions.
• Determine equipment requirements based on physician’s tentative diagnoses and scout films for preliminary review.
• Maintain MRI equipment through scheduled cleaning, testing, and documentation; report malfunctions.
• Follow MRI safety guidelines and conduct safety protocols during imaging.
• Perform related duties as directed by supervisors, including quality assurance and control tasks.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of radiography tools, techniques, and applications, with the ability to utilize imaging technology for diagnostic purposes.
• Ability to prepare patients for imaging procedures and monitor their reactions, responding appropriately to emergent situations.

Minimum Education and Experience

• Graduate from an approved ARRT program.
• 6 months to 1 year of experience preferred.

Certifications, Registration, or License Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
• Active MRI Certification
• State license as required
