Job Description

This posting serves as a general site for all MRI applications within the Jefferson Health North region, including:

  • Abington Memorial Hospital
  • Jefferson Landsdale Hospital
  • Einstein Montgomery Hospital
  • Jefferson Northeast Hospital locations (Bucks, Torresdale, Frankford)

MRI Technologist

Under the supervision of a radiologist, the MRI Technologist performs magnetic resonance imaging procedures to produce detailed tissue images for diagnosis. Responsibilities include preparing information for physicians, delivering patient care and education before, during, and after procedures.

Essential Functions

  • Interact professionally with co-workers, visitors, and staff, reflecting Jefferson's values.
  • Process and evaluate the technical quality of images, such as density, contrast, definition, and distortion.
  • Maintain proper positioning of patients and equipment during contrast media flow to ensure safety and exam success.
  • Instruct patients on body positioning, explain procedures, and respond to questions effectively.
  • Determine equipment needs based on physician diagnoses and scout films for preliminary review.
  • Maintain MRI equipment through scheduled cleaning, testing, and documentation; report malfunctions.
  • Follow MRI safety guidelines during procedures.
  • Perform related duties as directed by supervisors, including quality assurance tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of radiography tools, techniques, and applications, with the ability to operate imaging technology.
  • Ability to prepare patients and monitor reactions during procedures, responding appropriately to emergencies.

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an approved ARRT program.
  • Preferred 6 months to 1 year of experience.

Certifications and Licenses

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Active MRI certification.
  • State license as required.
