Job Summary

Provides patient services using the imaging modality of magnetic resonance imaging. Performs MRI scans at a technical level. EHMC employees throughout the Medical Center will use behaviors and interpersonal communication styles that are appropriate for a hospital environment and demonstrate courtesy, dignity and respect. G.R.E.A.T. will be used for all patient interactions to enhance the patient experience.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Prepares room and equipment for MRI scans.
  • Cleans and disinfects MRI room and equipment.
  • Prepares patient for MRI exams and procedures.
  • Ensures that patients are as comfortable as possible during exam and while waiting for transport before and after exam by providing blankets, sheets, pillow set, etc.
  • Burns and uploads CDs when needed.
  • Provides appropriate information on images with respect to time, date, name, as required by specific procedure.
  • Prepares contrast media for MRI exams, using sterile technique when necessary.
  • Assists radiologist/physician with MRI equipment.
  • Maintains the necessary supplies in MRI rooms.
  • Informs supervisor of stock levels.
  • Observes patient and machine during procedures.
  • Interacts with the patient and responds to his/her needs within a context which recognizes the growth and development process.
  • Must have knowledge of magnetism and use this knowledge to protect patients, staff and their belongings as well as the MRI scanner itself.
  • Checks patient's record for appropriate documentation such as history form, consent, doctor's orders, etc.
  • Verifies procedure in Epic & reviews any other special notes or comments.
  • Position may require to cover multiple offsite locations including the hospital.
  • Interviews patient to determine if he/she has a history where MRI is contraindicated.
  • Answers phones and arranges exam schedule when necessary.
  • Informs supervisor of any regard to unusual circumstances that concern equipment.
  • Adheres to appropriate dress code as prescribed by department.
  • Teaches students the clinical/technical aspects of MRI.
  • Informs supervisor with regard to unusual circumstances with respect to the patient.
  • Required to float to all Englewood Health locations.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
  • Associates degree and satisfactory completion of two years of formal training in an AMA approved radiologic technology program.
  • Must be ARRT registered or eligible.
  • MRI certification required or eligible.
  • Must be New Jersey State licensed.
  • Minimum of one year experience in Radiologic technology.
  • Minimum of one year experience in MRI.
  • CPR certified.
Working Conditions
  • Occasional heavy lifting of patients.
  • Exposure to strong magnetic field.

Associates degree and satisfactory completion of two years of formal training in an AMA approved radiologic technology program.

License/Certification/Registry
  • Must be ARRT registered.
  • BLS required.
Compensation & Benefits

The rate of pay for each position will be determined based on a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, qualifications, skills, etc. The minimum rate does not include bonuses, incentives, differential pay or other forms of compensation. In addition to the minimum rate, eligible employees may receive comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, retirement plans, paid time off, and other wellness resources. Minimum rate: $37.00
