Performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex imaging equipment to produce quality MR images as requested for subsequent interpretation by the radiologist. All duties are performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Promotes service excellence in all interactions as outlined in the Key Behaviors in the YNHH Core Success Factors. Staff may be occasionally assigned to any of the GH diagnostic radiology locations regardless of regular work location. This job description and requirements have been approved by the medical chairman of the diagnostic imaging department and the medical staff executive committee.

Responsibilities

  1. Performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties utilizing complex diagnostic imaging equipment, following routine protocols with independent judgment.
  2. Uses technical skill and knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy to perform MR exams using appropriate imaging protocols independently and efficiently.
  3. Participates in workflow activities to meet department goals, assisting schedulers, physicians, nursing, and other staff with scheduling, requisitions, pre-authorization, patient prep, and communication.
  4. Provides quality and compassionate patient care to ensure cooperation, safety, and satisfaction, explaining procedures and offering emotional support.
  5. Performs record keeping and customer service functions to ensure proper billing and communicates feedback, ensuring correct patient selection from the worklist.
  6. Engages in educational activities to further professional knowledge and assists in expanding others' knowledge, including teaching newly-hired technologists.
  7. Enhances patient experience by achieving satisfaction scores, presenting a friendly and courteous demeanor, and encouraging a patient and family-centered experience.

Qualifications

Education

Associates Degree in Radiology preferred. ARRT, MRI advanced registry required unless trainee, with 6 months from start date to obtain.

Experience

Minimum one (1) year experience in MRI unless trainee.

Licensure

ARRT and MRI advanced registry required unless trainee, with 6 months from start date to obtain. CT State Radiography licenses required.

Special Skills

Able to safely enter a magnetic field; proficient in all procedures and exams in a hospital radiology setting, including Synapse technology. Six months trial period.

Physical Demand

May be exposed to infectious or hazardous materials. Standing and walking most of the day, lifting, pushing, pulling medium-weight equipment, manual dexterity, and assisting with patient lifting as needed.
