Job description

Join to apply for the MRI Technologist - Casual role at UPMC.

This position involves performing imaging procedures with a high level of independence, judgment, ingenuity, and initiative for diagnostic purposes. The role requires coverage every other weekend from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. for outpatient, inpatient, and emergency room MRI exams.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain clinical competencies for all exams and equipment.
• Properly identify all patients using two identifiers and follow universal protocol.
• Review patient history, assess physician orders, and apply departmental protocols, including contrast administration and documentation.
• Read and present relevant information to the physician before exams.
• Ensure exams are properly coded, tracked, and documented in the RIS system, and all data is correctly networked and charges entered.
• Practice and maintain MR safety standards.
• Communicate effectively with patients and team members, demonstrating care, listening, dignity, and respect.
• Perform procedures for reviewing, processing, and archiving images.
• Explain procedures clearly to patients to ease their fears and gain cooperation.
• Hold a graduate degree from an ARRT-approved school of Radiologic Technology, or an accredited CNMT or ARDMS program.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

• Obtain MR registry within 18 months of hire.
• CPR or BLS certification required.
• Possess ARRT Certificate, Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification (NMTC), or ARDMS registration.
• Maintain Act 33, 34, and 73 FBI clearances with renewals.
