Job summary

Boston Children’s Hospital is seeking a Senior MRI Technologist to perform complex MRI procedures, ensure patient safety, and mentor staff. The role includes equipment management, QA projects, and leadership support in a busy radiology department.

Qualifications include 3 years of MRI experience, ARRT MRI certification, and an Allied Health associate degree (Bachelor’s preferred). MA MRI licensure and BLS are desirable. Compensation aligns with the hospital’s pay structure and benefits package.

  • Perform complex MRI procedures for scheduled and emergency patients with a focus on safety and data integrity.
  • Train and mentor staff, fellows, residents, and students in MRI techniques.
  • Manage equipment and operations, including identifying malfunctions, inventory, QA projects, and daily workflows.
  • Provide leadership by supporting supervisors and driving equipment/process improvements.
  • Maintain positive patient and family relations, explaining procedures clearly and responding empathetically.

Position Summary

The Senior MRI Technologist performs complex MRI procedures, ensures patient safety, mentors staff, and assists with operational duties while maintaining high-quality imaging standards and departmental compliance. They also participate in training, equipment management, and leadership tasks, requiring certification, experience, and strong technical and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform complex MRI procedures on both scheduled and emergency patients, ensuring patient safety and adherence to quality control and data integrity standards.
  • Train and mentor staff, fellows, residents, and students in MRI techniques and procedures to maintain high professional standards.
  • Manage equipment and operations, including identifying malfunctions, assisting with inventory, quality assurance projects, and supporting daily departmental workflows.
  • Provide leadership support by filling in for supervisors when needed, overseeing clinical operations, and championing new equipment or process improvements.
  • Maintain patient and family relations by creating a supportive environment, explaining procedures clearly, and responding empathetically to individual patient needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
  • Associate's Degree: Allied Health required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Experience
  • 3 years of experience working as an MRI Technologist.
License/Certification:
  • Preferred: Current MA Radiologic Technologist license for MRI
  • MRI registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Must meet, successfully complete, and maintain the ARRT certification
  • BLS certification.

The posted pay range is Boston Children’s reasonable and good‑faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.
