Job summary

Texas Oncology in Irving, TX seeks a MRI Tech to perform high quality MRI exams and support the Texas Center for Proton Therapy. You will ensure patient safety, screen for contraindications, and collaborate with radiologists and staff.

Responsibilities include administering contrast when needed, assisting in patient movement and maintaining equipment and infection control; prior MR work and ARRT MRI certification are required.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school.
• Minimum three years experience as a MRI Technologist.
• Certification as a registered radiologic technologist (ARRT) required.
• Current IV and CPR certifications required.
• Certification in MRI

Responsibilities

• Perform high quality MRI exams on incoming patients.
• Ensures patients are properly screened for safety concerns and/or contraindications for MRI exams.
• Monitor patient's wellbeing during exams and provide patient the squeeze ball for communication.
• Guide patients through the process and answer questions about exam procedures.
• Shall respect a patient's right to refuse the examination.
• Respond to physician questions and needs regarding patients.
• Participate in projects and/or meetings and complete other tasks as assigned by management.
• Respect professional conduct and maintain infection control policies.
• Ensure proper preventive and corrective maintenance for the MRI unit.
• Assist in patient movement to and from wheelchairs or gurneys.
• Ensure MRI scans are performed per established protocols and orders.
• Teach MRI skillsets to fellow technologists.
• Perform cleaning duties within MRI work areas to maintain infection control.
• Perform automated data entry and clerical duties related to exam/image processing.
• MRI experience in an active clinical environment, complex MRI studies.
• Performs a variety of MRI/MRA scans of the body per protocols.
• Administer contrast as needed, safely and effectively.
