Job summary

Texas Oncology is seeking an MRI Tech to join the Texas Center for Proton Therapy in Irving, Texas. The role may be filled at level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience.

Responsibilities include performing high-quality MRI exams, ensuring patient safety, and supporting clinical workflows in a busy oncology setting. Qualified applicants will have an Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology, at least three years of MRI experience, ARRT certification, and current IV/CPR certifications along

Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school.
  • Minimum three years experience as a MRI Technologist.
  • Certification as a registered radiologic technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Current IV and CPR certifications required.
  • Certification in MRI

Responsibilities

  • Perform high quality MRI exams on incoming patients.
  • Ensures patients are properly screened for safety concerns and/or contraindications for MRI exams.
  • Monitor patient's wellbeing during exams; provide patient communication and comfort measures.
  • Guide patients through the procedure and answer questions regarding procedures.
  • Respect patient's right to refuse the examination.
  • Respond to physician questions and needs regarding patients.
  • Participate in projects/meetings and complete tasks as assigned by management.
  • Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance for the MRI equipment and report issues.
  • Assist in patient movement to and from wheelchairs or gurneys.
  • Follow established MRI protocols and orders.
  • Teach MRI skillsets to fellow technologists.
  • Perform cleaning duties within MRI area for infection control.
  • Handle data entry and clerical duties related to exams/images.
  • MRI experience in active clinical environment; perform a variety of MRI/MRA scans; administer contrast safely.

Texas Oncology is looking for a MRI Tech to join our team! This position will support the Texas Center for Proton Therapy at the Irving, Texas location. This position can be either a level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate work experience. Responsibilities
  • Perform high quality MRI exams on incoming patients.
  • Ensures patients are properly screened for safety concerns and/or contraindications for MRI exams. Reports concerns to the supervising radiologist and communication to the requested health care provider.
  • Monitor patient's wellbeing during exams; recognizes patient discomfort or medical problems and take appropriate action. Provide patient the squeeze ball (panic ball), to ensure they have complete communications with you during their exam.
  • Guide patients through this sometimes difficult process by kindly talking them through the steps and answering their questions and concerns regarding exam procedures and process.
  • Shall respect a patient's right to refuse the examination.
  • Respond to physician questions and needs regarding patients.
  • Participate in projects and/or meetings, and complete other tasks as assigned by management.
  • Respect and work within the Business Conduct and professionalism alongside fellow technologist and other employees. Professional and technical communications skills.
  • Ensure proper preventive and corrective maintenance for the MRI scanning unit. Report any patient's need of medical attention. Findings from emergency response shall be immediately reported 911 and the MR Imaging facility and or authorized representative.
  • Must assist in patient movement to and from the wheel chair, bed or gurney, as needed.
  • Shall assure that all MRI scans are performed in accordance with established protocols and only upon the order of a person who is lawfully authorized to diagnose, treat, and prescribe. Any ambiguous procedures or requisitions will be referred to the director of the MRI facility.
  • Teach MRI skillsets, practices and share MRI related knowledge to fellow technologist.
  • Must perform any cleaning duties necessary within the MRI work area to include within the MRI chambers and related scanner equipment to maintain infection control policies and procedures.
  • Perform automated data entry and all clerical duties related to exam/image processing, daily activities.
  • MRI experience in an active clinical environment, complex MRI studies:
  • Performs a variety of MRI/MRA scans of the body in accordance with department protocols and supervising radiologist directions.
  • Administer contrast as needed, in a safe and effective manner.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology from an accredited school.
  • Minimum three years experience as a MRI Technologist.
  • Certification as a registered radiologic technologist (ARRT) required.
  • Current IV and CPR certifications required.
  • Certification in MRI

Requires ability to reach above shoulder height. Requires sitting/standing for extensive periods of time. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
