Performs routine and some special procedure imaging. Prepares patients for procedures, assists radiologists as needed, and operates imaging equipment. Ensures adherence to established standards of care and pursues ongoing education. Takes responsibility for assigned areas and duties, maintains patient care quality, and follows customer service protocols. Performs additional duties such as quality assurance and exercises professional judgment in procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  1. Understand and adhere to WPH Performance Standards, Policies, and Behaviors.
  2. Prepare and position patients correctly for examinations, observing specific protocol requirements and documenting images and questionnaires.
  3. Manage designated areas and procedures, producing high-quality images and reviewing scans for accuracy and completeness.
  4. Assist physicians during procedures as necessary.
  5. Perform quality assurance and calibration tasks.
  6. Respond to emergency procedures and situations within the department.
  7. Maintain cleanliness of all areas and equipment; report malfunctions to the supervisor.
  8. Print patient CDs when needed.
  9. Handle routine office duties, including answering phones, checking reports, documenting patient information, and utilizing EMR and PACS systems.
  10. Notify front desk staff upon exam completion.
  11. Present images to radiologists, communicate findings to physicians, and document reports, including STAT readings.
  12. May serve as instructor or preceptor.
  13. Introduce and educate patients and families about procedures, considering age and psychosocial factors.
  14. Attend staff meetings and training sessions.
  15. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Graduate from an accredited radiography program; ARRT certification required, with ARMRIT certification within one year of hire.
  • NY State DOH Licensure or Limited Permit required.
  • Maintain continuing education standards, typically 24 ECE credits over two years.
  • BLS certification from AHA required or completed within 90 days of hire.
  • IV certification preferred or obtained within six months of orientation.
  • Yearly MRI safety certification Level 2 required.
