Job summary

121 Gouverneur Hospital in Gouverneur, NY seeks an MRI Technologist to operate MRI equipment and perform procedures per provider orders in the Medical Imaging department.

The position requires ARRT registration, a High School Diploma or GED, BLS certification, and at least 2 years of diagnostic MRI experience. You will follow safety protocols and work closely with radiologists and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; graduate of Radiologic Technology or MRI program.
• Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
• AHA-BLS, or obtain within 3 months of hire.
• 2 years of experience as a Diagnostic Technologist or graduate of an Accredited MRI program.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision and apply clinical knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Performs MRI procedures to utilizing the principles and knowledge of anatomy, positioning and MRI techniques.
• Assists radiologist in the performance MRI interventional procedures and provides appropriate images for interpretation.
• Follows all regulatory and organizational guidelines for patient/staff screening and MRI Safety and provides MRI safety education to anyone who may have contact with the MRI equipment.
• Follows organizational standards to include but not limited to patient identification, patient education, consents, and order verification and infection control.
• Participates in all QA/QC procedures as designated and maintains standards of these programs. This includes processes involving MRI equipment, image quality, documentation and MRI safety

JOB TITLE: MRI Technologist

STATUS: Full Time

LOCATION: Gouverneur Hospital - 77 West Barney Street Gouverneur, NY 13642

DEPARTMENT: Medical Imaging

SCHEDULE: Days, M-F, 8hrs, 8am-430pm

Operates MRI equipment and ancillary support systems to perform MRI procedures per provider orders. This is in accordance with approved techniques, policies and regulatory standards as established by regulatory agencies, standards and policies set forth by the organization. Adheres to the professional standards of the NYS Department of Health and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• (35%) Performs MRI procedures to utilizing the principles and knowledge of anatomy, positioning and MRI techniques.
• (25%) Assists radiologist in the performance MRI interventional procedures and provides appropriate images for interpretation.
• (15%) Follows all regulatory and organizational guidelines for patient/staff screening and MRI Safety and provides MRI safety education to anyone who may have contact with the MRI equipment.
• (15%) Follows organizational standards to include but not limited to patient identification, patient education, consents, and order verification and infection control.
• (10%) Participates in all QA/QC procedures as designated and maintains standards of these programs. This includes processes involving MRI equipment, image quality, documentation and MRI safety

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or GED Graduate of either Radiologic Technology or MRI program.
• Registered with American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
• AHA-BLS, or obtain within 3 months of hire.
• 2 years of experience as a Diagnostic Technologist or Graduate of an Accredited MRI program
• Complexity of Work: Requires critical thinking skills, working with a variety of licensed and non-licenses professionals internal and external to hospital operations. Application of clinical and technical knowledge and skills in the performance of job and patient care during routine and emergent situations. Ability to work with minimal supervision.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Formal Advanced modality specialty training.
• IV certification from NYS
• 1 year of experience as a MRI Technologist

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, squatting, moving, lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50 lbs. Ability to operate and move radiologic equipment. Ability to note changes in condition of others by vision, feel, observation of verbal and non-verbal behavior, listening/hearing and verbal communication. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Formal Advanced modality specialty training. IV certification from NYS 1 year of experience as a MRI Technologist EDUCATION: LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS: PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Moderate - Clinical - Moderate clinical roles are patient facing roles that require continual movement, including standing, walking, and lifting 20–50 lbs., along with pushing and pulling medical equipment and assisting with patient positioning. Employees perform frequent bending, twisting, and reaching while completing fine motor tasks in busy or confined clinical environments. High sensory acuity is essential for monitoring patient status and responding to alarms or safety concerns. Emotional and cognitive demands are substantial, involving decision-making under pressure, responding to emergencies, and maintaining sustained focus. Environmental exposures include infectious agents, bodily fluids, chemicals, and radiation. TB testing, mask-fit testing, and physical exams are common requirements. For disease specific care programs refer to the program specific requirements of the department for further specifications on experience and educational expectations, including continuing education requirements. PAY RANGE

PAY RANGE: $34.25 - $45.25 CITY: Gouverneur POSTAL CODE: 13642 The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
